My place to ramble.

What's going on here? Some strange rabbit fetish?
Link from a conspiracy site...
It's 10:35, I'm trying to write a paper...at least I'll be somewhere where I can listen to the Harry Browne radio show. I wasted most of my day looking for an apt. I found a nice 2br 1.5 bath townhouse only 2 miles from the plant. It a good deal too...only $550 if I get my rent in on time. I also get June for free. Hopefully I'll get Charter's high speed access along with a couple hundred digital cable channels. If I do that, I might some get web space and try to make this a more interesting read.
...back to the paper...

This piece from Andrew Sullivan is long but good.
Am I the only one who didn't watch Bush land on the carrier? I had better things to do (like get drunk) than listen to him.
I'm still feeling it now...
I've been away from the computer for a couple days...there is so much to read, like this on UT and the first amendment.
reminder to self, find the court case.
The Liberty Blog...I need to come back to this when I have time.

Good news on the job front. The moving allowance can be used for anything. This is how HR put it: "It will simply come
to you in a check and you can use it for whatever you wish - even to buy Frosted Flakes."
I'm happy.

Something I need to remeber as I approach a steady paycheck.
"[R]emember this: an extra dollar earned, because of federal, state, and Social Security taxes, is typically $0.55 to $0.65 more in your pocket. A dollar reduction in spending, however is $1 towards solving your budget problem."
but this is even more applicable:
"In some cases, you will discover that you signed up for low easy payments for the next decade to pay for one of your "wants." It may be the case that getting out of that bill isn't going to save you much money at all. Just stop adding to your woes, however, until you get your finances straightened out."
I'm going to have to try really hard to save and be on a budget, although I have had my eyes on a nice Abu Garcia reel. Cabela's has this special, if you buy the reel they give you a 7' rod rated at 10-25lbs...perfect for playing with stripers, cats, and lots in the salt if I ever make it back.

David Friedman has a blog. Hopefully he will update it a little more often.
For those of you who come here who don't know who he is (yeah like I actually get visitors), check out the site and these links:
The School
Chapter 33
Thanks to Jason for the blog link.
"This man 1 never saw before
At 3 A.M. breaks down the door
To tell me my aspirin is LSD.
'It says right there on the bottle,
Acetylsalicylic Acid.'
I tell you doctor, honestly,
It seems like someone's after me.
I don't think fighting is what I'm made for
But this lottery ticket I never paid for
Sold by a pusher known as Sam
Has won me a ticket to Vietnam,
A twelve months, expenses paid, tropical vacation
With a funeral, free, from a grateful nation.
But the doctor says I need therapy
For thinking someone is after me.
And then there are things I just can't ignore
Like the little man in our bedroom door
Says we'll be in jail by the end of the night
Unless we turn over and do it right.
Doctor, Doctor, come and see
There's really someone after me.
Then he asks, as he rips off the sheet,
For our marriage license and tax receipt;
Says 'you need a license to shoot at a duck
How come you think that it's free to . . .'
Who so blind as will not see;
The state, the state, is after me."

Something about this is slightly disturbing. She actually uses the word "randy" and says they used "precautions."
This is also disturbing, but at least its funny.

Well, here's an image of my hand. It doesn't have all of the linkages, actuators and sensors, but this is the general image.

I just said this to a group member. I feel like such a geek, but its the attitude I have at this point (T-22.5 hrs until its due).
"Its a presentation, not a demonstration of functionality."
-Byron
If I can find some space, I'll save a good graphic of this had and put it up in the next week or two.
